- 1). Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. Loosen the spark plug with the spark plug wrench and take the spark plug out of the engine.
- 2). Examine the spark plug to see if it is dirty. If corrosion appears on the plug or if it is cracked, it needs to be replaced.
- 3). Measure the gap of the electrode with the feeler gauge. The gap on the electrode should be between 0.7 and 0.9 mm or 0.028 and 0.031 inches.
- 4). Clean the surface for the gasket with a clean cloth. Place a new gasket on the surface and insert the plug into the engine. Torque the plug to 18 foot-pounds with the torque wrench.
- 1). Lift up on the seat to remove it from the ATV. Remove the screws securing the air filter case with the Philips head screwdriver. Take the cover off of the air filter case.
- 2). Pull the element out of the case. Separate the element from the metal guide or support.
- 3). Wash the element in a non-flammable solvent. Squeeze the element to remove any excess solvent. Set the element aside and let it dry.
- 4). Apply air filter oil to the element. Place the element back in the metal guide. Set the guide back in the air filter case.
- 5). Set the cover back in place and reattach the seat to the ATV.
