- 1). Dab a cotton ball in acetone until it is soaked. Press the cotton ball against the painted-over mirror. Continue this process until you've saturated the mirror with acetone. Allow the acetone to sit on the surface of the mirror for at least five minutes.
- 2). Rub a soft cloth across the painted mirror surface. The paint will wipe off. For more stubborn or thickly covered areas of paint, add a few more dabs of acetone. Continue rubbing the cloth against the mirror until all the paint comes off.
- 3). Hold a razor blade horizontally against the mirror and make tiny upwards rubbing movements to remove truly stubborn or dried-on areas of paint. Wipe off the mirror with a soft dry cloth when done.
