- 1). Purchase two contrasting colors of hair extensions, one the same color as your natural hair and the other a contrasting color. For example, if you have blond hair, choose dark brown or black extensions, and if you have brunet hair, choose blond extensions.
- 2). Make a horizontal part across the back of your head from earlobe to earlobe. Clip away the hair above the part.
- 3). Separate a 1/2-inch section of hair from below the part and comb it to remove any tangles. With light, brisk movements, comb the hair--about 1 or 2 inches from the root--toward your scalp with the back comb. Repeat the backcombing process for 1/2-inch sections of hair along the entire part.
- 4). Apply a light layer of hairspray to the backcombed or teased area and allow it to dry for a few seconds.
- 5). Open the clip of the first hair extension weft or piece and position it at one end of the part, so the hair hangs down. Slide the extension clip down from the root and clip it closed.
- 6). Alternate the contrasting colors along the entire part when clipping. This gives your scene hair a bold, streaky look.
- 7). Release the hair from the clip and create another horizontal part about 1/2-inch above the first part. Repeat steps 3 through 6. Continue the process until you reach about the center of the back of your head.
- 8). Create a horizontal part above your right ear and cut a weft slightly smaller than the length of the part. Repeat steps 3 through 6 until you reach just below the temple. Style your hair as usual.
- 1). Purchasing contrasting-colored human extension wefts or just one color, depending on your preference. Typical glue-in extensions come in one long weft or roll.
- 2). Create a horizontal part across the back of your head from earlobe to earlobe. Clip the hair above the part away.
- 3). Measure the part, then cut a weft to slightly smaller than the measurement. Apply a thin line of latex glue bond across the band along the top of the weft. Let the glue sit for about 30 seconds.
- 4). Apply the weft glue-side down about 1/4 inch from the root along the part. Gently hold the extension in place without pushing too hard, which will make the glue squish down onto your scalp. Let the glue dry for about a minute.
- 5). Make another horizontal part about 1/2-inch above the first part and repeat steps 3 and 4, using the contrasting color of extension if purchased. Continue creating parts and applying the extensions, alternating colors, until you reach the middle of your head.
- 6). Create a horizontal part above your right ear and cut a weft slightly smaller than the length of the part. Repeat step 4 until you reach just below the temple. Style your hair as usual.
