- 1). Sweep the concrete floor using a stiff-bristled push broom to remove any debris or loose dirt from its surface.
- 2). Run a dust mop over the floor to remove any fine dust particles missed with the broom.
- 3). Pour one gallon of warm water into a bucket and add mild liquid soap to the water, stirring the water as you add the soap until it begins to form suds.
- 4). Use a rope mop to mop the floor using the soapy water. Cover the concrete in sections of about six square feet, washing the floor with the soapy water, and then wringing out the mop and rinsing the section with clean water. Working in sections will ensure the soapy water mix won’t dry on the floor before you can rinse it away.
- 5). Rinse the entire floor a second time after completing the section cleaning to remove any soapy residue missed the first time.
- 6). Examine the floor for cleanliness if the liquid soap failed to clean the concrete, then use kitchen cleanser to remove the dirt. Wet the entire floor, and then sprinkle with kitchen cleanser. Scrub the cleanser into the floor with the push broom, and then rinse with clean water.
- 7). Look for any patches of grease or oil on the floor while cleaning. Use a concrete degreaser and a scrub brush to remove oily patches. Spread a layer of the degreaser on the floor and allow it to sit in place for the manufacturer’s recommended length of time to penetrate the grease. Scrub the patch with the scrub brush to break up the oil, and then rinse the area clear with clean water.
