- 1). Cover the floor, countertop or area around the grout you want to clean with plastic sheeting or drop cloths to keep any grease and cleaning solution from soiling that area. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands clean.
- 2). Mix 2 cups of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar in a bucket or plastic container. Use a scrub brush or toothbrush to stir the mixture into a paste.
If the grease buildup is heavy, use hydrogen peroxide instead of white vinegar to break up the buildup. The paste will start bubbling. Wait until the bubbling stops before proceeding. - 3). Apply the paste to the greasy grout. If using hydrogen peroxide instead of white vinegar, apply the paste and leave it on the greasy grout for 10 minutes.
- 4). Scrub the grout vigorously with the scrub brush or toothbrush. Work in sections and reapply paste to stubborn grease spots.
- 5). Wet a cloth or rag with warm water from a sink. Wipe the grout clean with the wet cloth or rag. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for the next section of grout that needs cleaning.
