- 1). Hold a Gamakatsu weighted hook in one hand and a soft plastic bait such as a worm or creature in the other. Hold the soft plastic so that the bottom and nose of the bait are accessible.
- 2). Locate a point on the bottom of the bait that is 1/2-inch back from the nose. Insert the eye of the Gamakatsu weighted hook through the bottom of the bait and through to the nose. This will prevent a large weight on the hook from severely damaging the soft plastic when rigging traditional Texas style. A traditional Texas rig will involve inserting the hook point through the nose of the bait first, turning the hook and then inserting the point through the body.
- 3). Push the bait, that is threaded on the hook, forward until it sits in the bend of the hook. Bend the bait slightly and insert the point of the Gamakatsu weighted hook into the bottom of the bait.
- 4). Push the hook point completely through the body of the soft plastic and out the top. Arrange the soft plastic so that it lies in a straight line from the point to the offset at the eye.
- 5). Insert the point of the hook just under the surface of the bait to make the Texas rig weedless.
