- Create a twist on the traditional jigsaw puzzle. Simply fill a box with sawdust. Glue a photo on the top of the box to show the picture of the finished puzzle. Watch your co-worker's face as he opens the box and sees the sawdust. Alternatively, give a gift that makes fun of toys. Wrap some batteries and write a note saying, "Toy not included." This is a twist on the traditional "Batteries not included" note on many toys.
- Create stress relief capsules. All you need is bubble wrap. Place the bubble wrap in a bag with instructions to pop one sheet every four hours to alleviate stress. Another idea is to give a gift of smart pills. Simply buy a bag of "Smarties" candy. Wrap the bag in brown paper and write a prescription label such as, "Take one pill every four hours for brain power." Alternatively, buy a self-help book on stress relief. Cut a hole in the middle of each page and place a small flask inside.
- Make a funny gift using food. For instance, create a twist on chicken noodle soup. Buy a plastic toy chicken. You can find this in toy stores or novelty stores. Place it in a jar. Pour dry egg noodles over the chicken and make a label that states, "Chicken noodle soup." Alternatively, give a woman co-worker a gift of husband training treats. For example, place cookies in a small box. Place a label on the box that says, "Husband training treats." Add instructions such as, "Give your husband one treat for putting down the toilet seat."
- Give your co-worker something that he can use around the house. For instance, cut a bath sponge into a microphone shape. Clip a note on it that states, "Use for shower-singing sessions." Alternatively, you can make a funny weather forecast station. Simply buy a block of wood. Nail a piece of string to the wood. Make a label with weather situations such as, "If the string is curling, it is hot" or "Wet string indicates rain."
