- 1). Open and/or remove the glass from the fireplace. Depending on how the glass is positioned, removing it may be necessary in order to thoroughly clean it. The exact process for removing a glass door from a fireplace varies per fireplace.
- 2). Saturate a soft cloth with warm tap water.
- 3). Wipe down the fireplace glass with the dampened cloth. Doing so removes ash and easy-to-clean stains from the glass.
- 4). Spray the oven cleaner onto the glass. Concentrate on areas covered with heavy stains. Then, leave the cleaner on the glass for five to 15 minutes.
- 5). Dampen a soft-bristled brush with warm tap water. Scrub the fireplace glass gently with the brush.
- 6). Rinse the glass thoroughly with lukewarm tap water or with a clean, dampened cloth. Be sure to remove all of the cleaner from the glass. Inspect the glass, and repeat the process as necessary.
