NASCAR fans can take a behind the scenes tour of one of the fastest race tracks on the NASCAR circuit at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This track is the home of the annual Labor Day weekend NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. The next one is the AdvoCare 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on September 2, 2012. Atlanta Motor Speedway has a 1.54 mile wide oval track. The facility is owned by Bruton Smith and Speedway Motorsports, Inc., which owns 8 NASCAR tracks including Charlotte, Bristol, Texas, and New Hampshire Motor Speedways.
The tours begin with a brief track history. Then fans will see a NASCAR control unit, the 120 acre infield, and get a look at the track garages that house some Legends cars and Bandolero cars. They may even get to see one take a practice run on the short track. The tour proceeds down 1320 foot pit road, where drag races are held on Friday nights. Fans will also see the pit area, where cars are prepped by the race teams, and Victory Lane. Tour guides will entertain with plenty of NASCAR stories, and then drive two laps around the track in the speedway van. Inside the facility, race fans will get to view the suites. Club One offers fans the ultimate race day experience, with its climate controlled luxury seating. Fans can also enjoy the race action from the rooftop deck or on one of the suiteâEUR(TM)s 63 video screens.
